Visitors to the Ayutthaya historical park will be fascinated by the ruins of the city Alerter l'administrateur Recommander à un ami Lien de l'article

Most people visiting Ayutthaya historical park start at Wat Si Sanphet. You will first notice the impressive bell-shaped chedis, a grand symbol of Ayutthaya, built to house the ashes of King Boromatrailokanat, King Ramathibodhi and King Boromatrailokanat II. Located near the former palace grounds. This temple dates to at least 1448, although many historians date it much earlier. Most of the brick of this temple were used to build the castle of early Bangkok kings.

The next stop is Wat Ratchaburana, located at the symbolic center of Ayutthaya historical park. The temple was originally built to house the ashes of King Boromaraja II’s elder brother. King Boromaraja II killed him in a battle to see who would get the throne. Visitors to the site will see many stucco statues. In 1956, authorities excavating this site found many treasures buried deep in a shaft at this site. Thieves stole a large amount of gold and gems from the public chamber located here. The police found the thieves, and most of the stolen items can be seen at the Chao Sam Phraya Museum. The tower at this site is one of the few that is open to the public. The public can also visit the chapel here. Those who do should look for the sealed chamber decorated with painted murals.

The last stop on your journey around Ayatthaya is Wat Mahathat, perhaps the oldest structure in Ayutthaya historical park.  It was probably constructed in the late 1300s by King Borommaracha I.  Legend says that King Borommaracha I had a revelation and relics from Buddha suddenly appeared.  King Borommaracha I had the temple built to house the relics.  Around 1955 the central tower collapsed and a piece of bone about the size of a grain of rice was found. When it was built this temple served as the most important ceremonial building in Ayutthaya. It was the central royal temple and the city home of the supreme patriach.
